Rep. Matt Gaetz is officially making his move to impeach House Speaker Kevin McCarthy

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) formally moved Monday to question Home Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), submitting a movement to vacate the chair.

The Council should vote inside two legislative days on the proposal itself or on a separate proposal to submit or dispense with it.

Gaetz has threatened to introduce the proposal for weeks if McCarthy brings up a stopgap spending invoice that requires Democratic approval, as McCarthy did on Saturday after holdout Republicans blocked earlier makes an attempt. McCarthy was additionally accused of breaking a number of guarantees.
